To the north of Basse-terre, the start of the Leeward Coast, halfway between the towns of Sainte-Rose and Pointe Noire, Habitation Pineau is located in Deshaies, a pretty, peaceful village, typically Creole, between the sea and mountain, which for several years has been the filming location for the soap opera Meurtres au Paradis. Renowned for its magnificent white sand beaches, Deshaies has become in recent decades one of the tourist strongholds of Guadeloupe.
